Happy Friday to all.

I finally got my act together a posted a full version of my most recently finished painting.

Winged Offering:

...and to think it all started with a sketch i found in an old drawing book of mine:

....i have kept every sketch book i had all throughout middle school, high school and on into my adult years. I have them all ready at hand right next to my art table to skim through for inspiration- mostly finding them a goldmine to expound upon. I look at the books and see stored potential, stored energy eager to manifest someday into a newly executed drawing or painting. I also find it endlessly fascinating to look at the sketchbooks and see my style of drawing slowly morphing and changing direction. I am eager to see how my style changes in a few short years.

I am about a weekends worth of work away from finishing another painting sparked by a drawing of mine. Painting will be based off of this pixie:

i had to post both of these because i wasn't sure if i preferred her wonderful regal profile or her full sweet face with such warm and intelligent eyes. Which do you prefer?

Danny made a new screen of a recent design of his:


Evolve
mushroom screen print and design by Danny.
No doubt inspired be the amazingness of the world of mushroom, their extremely important role in life on this planet and the amazing amount of potential the organisms present. if you have not see this already check out this mushroom/fungi video: 6 ways mushrooms can save the world.
...I am sure Danny will begin screen printing "Evolve" onto shirts very soon so feel free to send in custom orders!

More Body painting session photos + new ink over acrylic paintings

So, in case you noticed i missed my blog update for last Friday i was in California visiting my family- so yee be warned this is a rather lengthy blog post since i am trying to catch up! I arrived back in Portland late night on Saturday and had Sunday to acclimate back into the groove of things. I was able to post 3 more photos from my most recent body painting shoot and i also took the time to document and list some new artwork for sale. Check it out:

....And there is a lot more of these to come! In about an hour i shot about 400 photos- which has left me with a bunch to pick and choose from. it has taken me awhile to narrow the catch down to a chosen few but i am making progress.
I am looking forward to this weekend's shoot with a lovely elderly woman- she will add some mature beauty and wisdom to the project- widening the age range and body type spectrum. I know i have said it before... but its interesting to see the twists and turns this project has made. Its unfurled to be a lot grander then i had visioned and im interested to see where and how it grows next.

In other news i finished a commission for a lady whom i had met last month when Danny and I were vending at "the Craft in the Village" over in Vancouver Washington.
The commission was for my "Love thy Self" illustration done on a green acrylic painted canvas.
here is how it turned out:

I made a duplicate of the Love thy Self mermaid ( of course since i make these by hand the second one differed from the first) in an odd shade of yellow:

...and a quick pick of the two of them together resting on my easel as their varnish dried:

I have been making these ink over acrylic art pieces for months now and i love them!

The process is fairly simple. I coat my canvas or pieces of wood with white gesso and then once it dries paint the background flat bright color. I then go in and use an India ink pen by Faber castell to do my line work. This allows for a lot of freedom and since the process is quick and fun it makes the artwork especially affordable and customizable. Feel free to place a custom order request - if you have a certain drawing of mine you want visited in this manner on a certain color. Id be happy to do such a commission!

In other news, while i was out of town danny held the fort by himself and set up a small booth of our art wares at the Last Thursday Artwalk on Alberta st fair:

The fair was swelling with people and vendors hanging out in the bright sunlight- i am so sorry to have missed it! But there is always next month now that the rain is pretty much backed off a bit.

I also have one more special something to share. Danny released a new podcast of music he has been working on under the name Bone and All.

check out his newly released music here. Its pretty trippy/psychedelic stuff and i make my first debut in his music in the 4th track where he used clips he recorded of me reading a poem of mine!
